I'm

About

Francesco Scala Ph.D., is currently a Researcher at ICAR-CNR, focusing on improving the energy efficiency of Artificial Intelligence (Green AI). Since 2018, he has also been a contract Professor at Unical, where he teaches courses in Computer Science and AI. His research centers on Machine Learning and Deep Learning, with a focus on Active Learning during his PhD. He has experience in developing predictive models and expertise in various programming languages and ML frameworks. He has published several scientific papers and a book on Machine Learning. His areas of expertise include Green AI, Active Learning, predictive modeling, and software development.

AI Researcher

Research

My research focuses on Artificial Intelligence across various domains. My main areas of interest include Sustainable Artificial Intelligence (Green AI), where I develop data pruning techniques like "Play it straight" and active learning methods such as "Lal-IGradV". I have also contributed to forecasting non-renewable energy production, particularly in the Italian context.

I have worked on the design of a protocol for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) called FSCTP. This protocol is designed to improve the performance of vehicular networks by providing reliable and efficient communication between vehicles and infrastructure.

My applied research interests include biomedical and social media data analysis.

Teaching

Stages

I offer internships and stages on various topics related to Artificial Intelligence, including machine learning, data analysis, and intelligent systems.
